BB30

The BB30 houseboat is rapidly taking shape. The coachwork, of high grade timber, is giving it a natural and rustic appeal. All timber flooring of high grade marine ply and cross stringers are epoxy coated and epoxy glued and the use of galvanized nails, stainless screws and bolts as required. Stairs to upper deck, railings and scuppers also of timber and heavy rope will complete the life rails on the lower deck and stainless rails will be made for the upper deck.

The forward deck cover will hold solar panels for the 12 volt electrical system, although there will also be petrol driven generating set for 230 volt appliances including air-conditioner.

The main sleeping stateroom will house a double bed, storage etc and the heads is well on the way with loo being fitted. Exterior wash down shower is in place on the aft deck. Waste water is semi processed and held in tanks built into the starboard hull for later pump out, while freshwater tanks are built into the port hull and have both gravity feed from an upper deck built in water tank and a 12 volt pressure pump. Wall paneling of ply with foam insulation is being fitted and the steering station is in place.

This first model is probably a little over built, but it was felt that it must be strong enough for the wear and tear that rental boats must endure.
